Ever since I was a child I have been intrigued by the question “What-if?” and “Why?”. This curiosity led me to books, and in reading books, my interests were slowly guided to a love for history, fantasy and strategy. Books I started reading by the age of 8. By the time I was 11, I had read books on Pearl Harbour, World War II, Arthur and his knights, the Nigerian Civil War and various books on fantasy but then always strategy, what to do in different situations, always trying to prepare for unforeseen scenarios. I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer as a child, I added a love for design to my love for strategy. Then I wanted to be a pilot. Sending me to school where I chose Computer Science as my course of study was a way to test that resolve and for three years that resolve held strong until my final year, where my project was in data security. There again, the call of strategy and design was too strong to resist. Abandoning my flight plans I did a second degree in Information Systems Security with a focus on management and so my career was born
Fast-forward 9 years and a career path which has taken me through roles in IT Security and analysis, consulting, project coordination, IT Infrastructure Operations and Transformation, I would say it has been an eventful career howbeit young. A career spent interfacing with local, national and international clients and colleagues in a myriad of industries which have included; banking, education, government, consulting and energy. A career spent asking questions relating to “what if, why and how“, identifying business and customer requirements with regards to infrastructure, business, technical and information security. These questions have been answered with the help of international standards and framework which include but are not limited to ISO27001, COBIT, ITIL, PMBOK, IIBA and TOGAF. This has helped develop a customer and business centric approach to issues within the workplace.
Strategy gaming as a child, developed strong multi-tasking abilities and a keen attention to detail and my experience with multiple scenarios in multiple industries have brought about a calm in high pressure situations and a strong ability to remain focused on solutions to issues/problems.
I currently live in Calgary, Canada and I am searching for opportunities within IT. If you want to connect personally or professionally, say hi.
